Mel Shaw – Co-opted Governor            Chair of Governors

I joined The Grove School as a parent Governor in 2013 and currently have two children attending the school. I enjoy working with other Governors and the school staff to ensure that the school provides the best possible education for all pupils. My specialism’s are Special Educational Needs and Child Protection and my role as a Governor has given me the opportunity to gain a lot of experience in many different roles, I am currently on the Safeguarding, Education and Pay & Personnel Committee’s.

It is very rewarding to give something back to the school that has and continues to provide my children with such a wonderful experience of Primary Education.

Teresa Dolman - Co-Opted Governor

I joined the Governing Body in October 2013 at which time I had 3 children at The Grove.  My oldest has now left and attends a local secondary school.  I am a co-opted Governor and I am chair of the Pay and Personnel Committee. I also sit on the Safeguarding Committee and Education Committee.   In my own time I enjoy days out with my family, being a taxi service to my children and socialising with friends and family. I have always had a love of horses and am now passing this passion on to my daughter.  Together we spend a lot of time walking around the bridleways and byways surrounding Westbury White Horse with our dog and Shetland Pony.

Ellie Timms – Co-opted Governor

My name is Ellie Timms, I have been a Governor,

at The Grove, since February 2015. I am a co-

opted Governor and I am chair of the Finance

Committee. I also am currently on the

Safeguarding, Education and Pay & Personnel

Committee’s. I have one son at the school at the

moment, but my older son also attended The

Grove some time ago. Before becoming a

Governor I was a parent helper and I still love

coming in to school to listen to the children read

whenever I possibly can. I enjoy reading,

listening to music, going to the cinema, baking,

spending time with my family and going for long

walks.

Anna Pemberton - Staff Governor

Hello. My name is Anna Pemberton and I am the Deputy Headteacher at The Grove. I have served as a Staff Governor in the past and am now delighted to be part of the Governing Body once again. Work and being a mum of two boys keeps me very busy and spending time with my family is my favourite way to unwind.  I enjoy keeping fit my weekly Zumba class is great fun. I have just taken up running with my youngest son but I don’t imagine we’ll be entering any Marathons for a while! Reading is a passion of mine and I’ve always got a book on the go. My other interests include walking, going to the cinema or theatre and spending time with friends.

Andy Giles - Parent Governor

I have been a Parent Governor at the Grove since late 2015, when I decided that I wanted to become more directly involved with the local community by using my experience to benefit the school. One of my key interests is to use the resources that we have in the school to provide the best possible education for our children, whilst fostering accessible and easily understood communication between staff and parents.

Employed within the IT Security sector following a career in the military, I am passionate about providing our children with the skills that they need to thrive in their years following The Grove - one of my main aims to integrate technology within everyday education to complement the already sterling work that is being conducted in the classroom at the moment.

Dr Mike Johnson - Co-opted Governor

I write poetry for children and, in early 2016, I began sessions at Grove School. Wow!  The children were absolutely brilliant, producing their own performance poems of extremely high quality.

Becoming a Governor was a logical step.

Discovering how a Primary School functions, after teaching English at University, is a challenge, but Grove School is wonderfully supportive. My partner is an ex-teacher so, with all the expertise available, I shall soon be up to speed.

I continue to write and have just been published by Bloomsbury (who also publish J K Rowling). I am a member of Trowbridge Library Reading Group. My other main hobby is walking my cockerpoo, Poppy. I also support Dogs Trust in their work.

I am passionate about learning and look forward to contributing towards Grove School’s provision of the best possible education for children.
